This is the culmination of over 10 years of work. The goal was to create a new speaker that is identical in sound and feel to the original JBL K120 making no sacrifices and copying the original design part for part. 

When I first started making amplifiers back in 2011, I always wanted to focus on using the highest quality parts available to me. This included the speakers that I load into the cabinets. After many years of sourcing JBL speakers for customers and having them rebuilt I am happy to announce that we have created a suitable replacement. We cut no corners here: its got the big alnico magnet, the 4" voice coil, and the small gap with concentrated magnetic flux which yields that super efficient high fidelity sound that the JBL speakers were known and loved for.

The price of the brand new speaker is $799 plus shipping. I understand that cost is considerably higher than most guitar speakers, however this is not a traditional guitar speaker. The prices for an original speaker has gone up over the years, and they typically need to have recone work done before you can use them which should include magnetizing them. Despite what you may read on the internet about an alnico speaker, the original JBL speakers do lose flux over time - we have measured over a hundred of them over the years and this has proven to be the case for many of them. You can not check the magnet without removing the cone, and the cost of a magnet charger puts it out of reach to most recone technicians. If your speaker is not magnetized to about 12,000 Gauss... it's not performing like it did when it was brand new.

The Milkman Alnico speaker is hand made in California, built to the original spec, and will last a lifetime or more (just like the originals did). What you are signing up for is a brand new, fully magnetized, warrantied speaker which ships to you in a proper box. It's just like going back in time and getting a brand new speaker!
